The majority of pupils at Chatten Free School will be focusing on functional communication as a priority. Where reading is appropriate, it is likely that a focus on learning important words such as their name, address or school name will be more relevant.  

Despite this, there will be occasions where some pupils reach a point where phonics is relevant.

On these occasions, we support our pupils to access the Little Wandle Phonics program.  This is a new program to Chatten Free School which we are currently in the process of developing and embedding into our school.
